GMC: America's Hardest Working Truck
Professional-grade. Designed for hard work. Preferred by customers who DO hard work.
GMC trucks have ALWAYS been made for tough use - but with the comfort, quality, and amenities that the modern truck owner demands.
GMC sells pickup and commercial trucks, buses, vans, military vehicles, and sport utility vehicles marketed in North America by General Motors.
And with options like the premium Denali package, the customer can experience GMC quality in first-class luxury with the finest attention to detail (including French stitching), premium features, luxurious materials, and the latest in technologies and advanced safety features.
The Early Days of GMC
In its early days, GMC made trucks for – and sold trucks to – farmers, contractors, freight haulers, and the others who needed dependable and durable vehicles.
GMC engines were known for their durability and reliability – for being able to make cross-country treks without breaking a sweat.
GMC and WWII
When commercial production of vehicles was interrupted by WWII, GMC used their engineering and design expertise to produce trucks and vehicles for the U.S. military.
The CCKW was more commonly known as a deuce-and-a-half or a Jimmy, and the amphibious DUKW delivered U.S. troops to French beaches during the Normandy invasion.
GMC Post-WWII to Today
Following the war, GMC began producing trucks that – while still undeniably GMC in durability and reliability – were slightly more designed for everyday use.
The following decades saw the manufacture of more commercial vehicles, diesel tractors, military vehicles, and the evolution of the Blue Chip model line that included the GMC Suburban Pickup.
By the 1970s, GMC was well-established as a light truck manufacturer in the U.S.
And in 1988, GMC introduced the new Sierra full-size pickup truck.
GMC has recently begun repositioning its image as “professional grade” – a return to its roots.
